Artist statement - A common thread in all of my paintings is that I strive to convey the simple beauty and the delicacy found in nature. Living in a highly technological world, these details can be easily overlooked and forgotten as the urban consumes the rural. I want my paintings to offer a moment's pause -- to prompt stillness and reflection -- by offering a visual counterpoint to our fast-paced life, reminding us as a viewer of the sacredness of the natural world and our need to live in communion with it. My conviction is that everything in our universe is connected. This conviction is based on the fact that everything is made up of energy. Each painting intimately explores this idea connecting with the human emotions and nature's beauty. Whether its the layering of colors with the washes of iridescent dyes, repeating strokes of the paintbrush or the 3 dimensional elements in the painting -- all create a visual dialog.
